Nursing is a challenging service to the human being who is in need of help to meet their basic needs as they are unable to do it by themselves due to illness or infirmity. Nursing is a carrier, rich in opportunity and variety in placement in the profession.  It is a well known fact that there is great demand for the quality service of Kerala nurses all over India and abroad and is a source of foreign exchange to the country.

 

Alteration in population characteristics and life style, changing disease pattern, modern technological development and scientific advancement in diagnostic measure and treatment modalities has changed the nurses role to more complex and expanded ranges.  Now it ahs been fixed B.Sc Nursing as minimum qualification for Indian nurses to practice in some foreign countries.  Considering the above facts the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam took the challenging lead to start B.Sc Nursing course in the year 1993.  Also diploma holders in Nursing are given opportunity to attain the degree after two year of study.

 

Nursing graduates are to hold significant positions in the hospital community and Nursing Education.  Opportunities for further studies in the field are also high.
